The dynamic landscape of North Brabant.
Noordbrabants Historisch Jaarboek 19 (2002) 46 - 89.
The article looks on the North Brabant landscape as a whole, discussing major developments it has witnessed over the centuries. This is illustrated with large regions and one small, specific area. A sketch of the geological basis of North Brabant landscapes is followed by an explanation of the general differences between them. Next, the landscapes of the peat bogs, the poplar-landscape and the enclosed landscape are briefly discussed. The landscape of De Mortelen near the town of Oirschot serves as a case study of the changes occurring in space and time. Some general observations on the future of the North Brabant landscape conclude the article.
