How a canonnet is working

Loading of the series will take some time!

Catching Dark-bellied Brent Geese (Branta bernicla bernicla) on the island of Terschelling, Netherlands on 11 May 1999. The canon-net was fired with a good tail-wind, while the geese take off upwind. This means that even more than the 50 birds which are visible in this series were caught, because they flew under the net before the net started to fall down. The total catch was 75 birds (Pictures taken by Gerard Müskens).
