Tuxertaler Alpen (1978)
Starting places: Lanersbach, Hintertux im Tuxertal.
In 1978 we (Corrie, Jan) went to the Tuxertaler Alps in Tirol, to make a tour
near the Olperer. A part of the route was made with friends from Limburg
that we had met the year before.
The schedule had to be changed several times due to weather conditions, but
we were able to cover most of the items we wanted to do. Our conclusion:
this area is worth to return (With my son Walter I did in
1998)!
Our Route
We started in Hintertux and first followed the west side
of the Olperer. However, we returned already the second day to the Tuxer Joch
Hs, after which we were able to cross the Friesenberg Scharte to the east
side of the Olperer. After several days we arrived in the Landshuter Ht.
Because we didn't want to return we descended to Innsbruck and started there
again at the Patscherkofel.
The precise route:
- Tuxer Joch Hs (2313m), from Hintertux.
- Geraer Ht (2324m), via Frauenwand (2540m) and Kleegruben Scharte
(2498m). We returned the next day to the Tuxer Joch Hs.
- Spannagl Hs (2531m), a trip only difficult when you have to
cross the lift areas.
- Friesenberg Hs (2498m), by the Friesenberg Scharte (2909m), where
we had a splendid panorama to the Zillertaler Alps.
- Olperer Ht (2389m), a panorama day again.
- Pfitscherjochhs (2248m), after a descend to the Schlegeisspeicher
(1782m). This hut even has marble in the toilets.
- Landshuter Europa Ht (2693m), a rather old hut to compensize the previous
one.
- Innsbruck, after a descend to the Brenner Pass, where we took
the bus.
- Glungezer Ht (2600m), after a restart at the Patscherkofel (2247m).
The Glungezer (2678m) was now easily climbed too.
- Voldertal Ht (1729m), which meant a long descend. Here we were the only
ones who stayed the night.
- Lizumer Ht (2015m), via Navischer Joch (2477m) and Klamm Joch
(2359m). Here I climbed also the Geier Spitze (2858m), together with
several people of Innsbruck. To stay with them meant a kind of skiing
downwards.
- Rastkogel Ht (2124m), after a day in Lanersbach (via Tor Joch, 2391m),
the lift from Mayrhofen to the Penkenjoch Ht (2095) and the climb of
the Rastkogel (2761m). The next day we again climbed the Rastkogel
and descended finally to Lanersbach.
