Lechquelle Gebirge (1977)
Starting place: St Anton am Arlberg.
In 1977 we (Corrie,
Jan) went to the west Lechtaler Alps,
of which the most western part is also known as the Lechquelle Gebirge. The first days my brother
Geert joined us. The last days we joined a group from Limburg. The route
ended premature in Oberlech, where I had an accident. This meant that for the
last days we went to Feldkirch (even to the hospital).
This tour we suffered several days from rain, so sometimes a valley walk was
necessary, while there was also a nice `highway' alternative.
In 1997 I (Jan) visited this region again under much
better conditions with my son Walter.
Our Route
We started in St Anton am Arlberg and first went north to Lech. From there
we turned to the west. After reaching the Rote Wand, we went north again and
finally returned to Lech.
The precise route:
- Leutkircher Ht (2261m), by lift to Kapall from St Anton am Arlberg. From the
Almajurjoch one has nice views to the south-east.
- Ulmer Ht (2279m), via the Valluga
(2809m), where we had
a splendid view to the Ferwall and to the Otztaler Alps.
- Stuttgarter Ht (2305m), via the Tritt Scharte (2580m)
and the Boschweg. In the evening it started to rain ...
- Lech, via Zürs. There was snow!
We all descended to Zürs. Here Geert went
to St. Anton, while we went to Lech (by bus).
- Ravensburger Ht (1947m), via Stierlochjoch (2011m).
From the Spullerschafberg there was a nice view to the
Rote Wand.
- Freiburger Ht (1918m), by the valleys (!) along the Spullerbach and
the Formarinbach. Here we stayed several days. One day we were able
to go around the Rote Wand, by Johannes Joch (2055m), Klesenza Alm (1737m),
Sattele (1737m) and In der Eng. The other days it rained very hard.
In the end we even returned to the Ravensburger Ht, again via the
valleys.
- Göppinger Ht (2245m), also a kind of valley walk, but the
weather slightly improved.
- Biberacher Ht (1862m), after climbing the Hochlicht Spitze (2600m) near
the Göppinger Ht. On the way to the Biberacher Ht
some brooks had to be crossed very carefully.
- Lech, via Furggele (2146m), Korbersee and
Oberlech. From Lech we went to Feldkirch.
